Major Joined: 03/19/2009 4:24 am Posts: 218	Is Big Brother looking out for you, or trying to build up revenue? Running an amber (red) light is probably the most expensive ticket you can get. I got a ticket for running one some years back and it cost me over $200. Some state get as high as $400, but is this meant to save lives and motorist from bodily injury, or is it you cities next cash cow? Professionals say the cameras are effective and cut down on side impact accidents, but what about the enormous amount of revenue each camera brings in? Some intersection generate $1-3.5 million dollars....yes one intersection SOME OF THE CITIES ALSO PHOTOGRAPH THE REAR OF THE CAR AS WELL. ALL PHOTOS ARE IN COLOR...SOME CITIES SEND A B& W, SOME CITIES SEND YOU THE COLOR. On the back of the form, they want you to name the person who is behind the wheel if it isn't you (since the ticket goes to the registered owner). THEY CAN'T COMPEL YOU TO NAME THEM THOUGH. If that wasn't you behind the wheel, SOME judges & commissioners will dismiss the ticket. Unless you have reported your car stolen previously, you CAN be held responsible. If you are, YOU HAVE TO PAY THE TICKET AND GET THE POINT ON YOUR RECORD AND YOU CANNOT GO TO TRAFFIC SCHOOL if your state has one (unless the JUDGE decides to cut you a break and let you go. You can always ask if you lose.....you have nothing to lose at that point)!!! & YOU CAN'T TAKE TRAFFIC SCHOOL FOR SOMEONE ELSE. The camera flash goes off ONLY AFTER the light turns red....NEVER on YELLOW. If you're in the intersection and the light was not red, you are NOT getting the ticket from the camera, BUT...if you cross the limit line of the crosswalk or the curb line (if there is no crosswalk) and DIDN'T ENTER WHEN IT WAS GREEN, you CAN be nailed by a cop if the light turns RED before you clear the intersection. A YELLOW LIGHT DOES NOT MEAN SPEED UP....IT MEANS "PREPARE TO STOP!!" If you didn't, and it turns RED while you're entering the intersection...you will be getting the ticket in the mail in a couple of weeks. YOU CANNOT SAY THE LIGHT WAS YELLOW....NO POWER GOES TO THE CAMERA UNTIL IT TURNS RED! _________________________ VladTV Forum Moderator
