Use of Auto-tune Upsets Ex-Milli Vanilli Member

Fabrice Morvan, formerly of the once popular group Milli Vanilli, recently spoke out about the usage of auto-tune and other types of voice-altering technology which a lot of artists use nowadays. He says what current singers do today is no different from what he and Rob Pilatus did years ago.

"There is no difference between what I did back then and what people are doing now. If you wanna break it down, people might say, 'Well you didn't sing' ... but the fact of the matter is ... now the machines are doing it. I ain't pointing the finger, but if you're doing all this and you're not performing the song live ... then you're not doing anything different from what I did."

In the 1990's, the group captivated the hearts of many fans and went on to sell millions of records and win numerous awards. Soon after they won the Best New Artist award, however, their secret was revealed to the world that neither of the two actually sang their songs.

They were stripped of their awards and humiliated worldwide as a result.

Is technology such as auto-tune a bad thing in today's music industry?

There is no difference between auto tune and lip syncing because in each case a machine is doing the work.

damn good observation yes i see the parallels the use of autotune is cool but the overuse is annoying its good to introduce new musical or old musical instrumentation in a artist music but some of us music lovers want to feel that marvin gaye voice,that jimi hendrix guitar,that true story mc lyrics.yes autotune is good jayz clown t-pain then turn around in use it himself.smdh?we paid good money to see concerts then find out the artist was lypsynching.wtf.p.s.i want to hear some real drums bring back the drum,also we have this hologRAM OF TUPAC PERFORMING OHOH THEY WILL BE OVERUSING THIS NEXT.

The difference is, we know when someone is using Autotune, its evident. We didnt know Milli Vanilli was lip syncing. Maybe if they came out right off the bat and told the world they were lip syncing, the comparison would be valid. Duhhh lol.. this guy isnt over his major, global fuck up yet. Sucks for him.

Typical. Nigga, let the shit go and stop comparing apples to oranges. There's a huge difference in using auto tune to correct pitch than to just outright lip sync a song...lol and that is exactly what you were doing. That was some fraud shit that I do remember well. Had it not been for that track skipping, well, you know the rest. Happy denial muthafucka!
