It seemed for a quick second that Tupac came back to life at Coachella on Sunday, as his digital likeness performed renditions of "Hail Mary" and "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted" with Snoop Dogg on stage.

Even though it was just a hologram, the image of Pac (the real Tupac) performing gave the tour managers for both Snoop and Dr. Dre an idea. Why not use the mind-blowing hologram on future tours?

That next tour, which is still in the works, would include Eminem, 50 Cent and Wiz Khalifa, or maybe just Dre and Snoop as the headliners.

"This is just the beginning," said Ed Ulbrich, the chief creative officer for Digital Domain Media Group, Inc., the company responsible for bringing Pac to "life" onstage. "Dre has a massive vision for this."

Digital Domain experimented with the Tupac hologram a year ago to see if it was possible and began work on the Coachella performance four months ago.

"To create a completely synthetic human being is the most complicated thing that can be done," said Ulbrich.

Are we seeing the future of hip hop concerts?
