Instead of stumbling upon chocolates or sweet and sour candies, a 3-year-old boy ended up standing on top of a WWII era live hand grenade during an Easter egg hunt in England this past Sunday.

At the Holford, Somerset event, 34-year-old Stuart Moffatt saw the young boy standing on the grenade. Upon noticing the alarming situation, he immediately began moving many of the young children away from the grenade, and had bystanders call the police to notify them of the immediate threat.  The bomb squad was called in and arrived on the field.  They detonated the grenade as soon as everyone was at a safe distance away from the blast radius.

Mr. Moffat commented on what happened, and how he first noticed the child standing on the grenade.

"We were beginning to count up the eggs at the end of the hunt and I saw a boy of three standing on an object.  It was brown and about 4 inches high. It looked like an Easter egg, but it was a hand grenade -- I was shocked. The boy who was standing on it thought it was a rock."
