Adding more twists and side stories in the Trayvon Martin case, NBC has recently fired an unnamed producer who aired an edited, racially motivated audio cilp of George Zimmerman's 911 call on the night that he is accused of shooting and killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

The audio clip details Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer in Sanford, Florida, calling 911 because he thought Martin was suspicious because he was a black teen wearing a hoodie.

According to the clip that aired on March 27, Zimmerman called the 911 dispatch saying, "This guy looks like he's up to no good. Or he's on drugs or something. It's raining and he's just walking around, looking about."

911 replied, "O.K., and this guy-is he white, black or hispanic?"

Zimmerman responded, "He looks black."

After an internal investigation in response to mass criticism of the clip being misleading, NBC News concluded that the clip was edited and had errors.

"During our investigation it became evident that there was an error made in the production process that we deeply regret," NBC News said in a statement. "We will be taking the necessary steps to prevent this from happening in the future and apologize to our viewers."

NBC News declined to comment on the firing.
