After a stint as head coach and an executive with the New York Knicks, NBA Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas became the head coach at Florida International University in 2009. After posting a 26-65 record with the school in his three years there, the university has relieved Thomas of his duties.

FIU Executive Director of Sports and Entertainment Pete Garcia made the announcement today that Isiah Thomas has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the FIU men's basketball program.

"We want to thank Isiah Thomas for his three years here at FIU," Garcia said. "However, we have decided to take the program in a different direction."

A national search for the Panthers' next head basketball coach will begin immediately.

Coincidentally, the Knicks recently fired former head coach Mike D'Antoni, who was hired after Thomas was let go by the organization. Who knows where Isiah Thomas will end up next.
