Dwight Howard has been the center of heavy trade talk and speculation coming into his final contract year with the Orlando Magic, especially after he decided not to use his opt-out clause. It remains highly skeptical as to where he will end up during the free agency period at the conclusion of the season. But one thing that the sports world knows all to well is the differences Howard has with his coach, Stan Van Gundy,

And it doesn't seem like things are getting any better between the coach and player as it is being reported that Dwight Howard wants Stan Van Gundy fired after this season. These statements were actually confirmed by Van Gundy himself who says he was notified by management of the development.

ESPN columnist Ian O'Connor and another columnist from the Orlando Sentinel, Mike Bianchi, reported via Twitter.

When asked about the situation, Coach Van Gundy responded: "Yes I know Dwight Howard has asked for me to be fired".

"Management told me story is true that Howard asked for him to be fired".

"I was told by people in our management. Right from the top,"

Coach Van Gundy also stated: "That's just the way it is. Again, I've been dealing with that all year. It's not anything real bothersome. You go out and do your job."

Contrary to what Dwight may want to happen, Magoc owner Rich DeVos says the superstar center doesn't make those decisions.

"He's not going to dictate what is going to happen. We talked to him about it and the mistake that we made is that we didn't talk to him about his preferences. He can't make those decisions and choices. e will make those, but we will let him know what we are making and we want his opinion on what fits and doesn't fit."

It was also reported that Howard would refuse to sign a long term deal with the Orlando Magic if Van Gundy was not relieved of his duties at the conclusion of the season.

There is a little more than three weeks before the NBA Playoffs begin and with such big news surrounding one team, it leaves fans to wonder if they'll be completely focused on the rest of their season.

These new developments only add more confusion and unknowns to Dwight Howard's future. We'll see what happens.
