Famed New York radio personality Charlamagne tha God has been pegged for a new gig hosting a new late night rap show on MTV. Does this mean MTV is finally ready to showcase music on their heavy rotation of reality shows?
MTV made the announcement on Thursday that they would be launching a new music and performance show for hip-hop heads called MTV's Hip-Hop POV. The show is slated to feature a group of hip-hop's key figures who will give unfiltered commentary on the hottest topics in the game.
MTV also issued a statement on the new show, saying "MTV's Hip-Hop P.O.V is an exciting, new weekly platform that shines the spotlight on the pulse of what's relevant to Hip-Hop fans, giving our audience an authentic perspective on the artists, celebs and topics they love," said EVP of Music & Talent Strategy, Amy Doyle, in a press release. "With its dominance of the music charts, global impact and cultural influence, we wanted to find a way to harness the passion that MTV viewers have for Hip-Hop culture and provide its latest and greatest stars and personalities with a brand new stage here at MTV."
