Nat Turner was an American slave who led a slave rebellion in Virginia in 1831, it resulted in the largest number of fatalities to occur in one uprising, prior to the American Civil War in the South. Many consider Turner a hero; in a fear-instilled time, he was willing to make slave-owners pay for the hardships that they enacted upon the millions of children, women and men they enslaved.
