Like a broken record, we didn't make this one up either.

Gerald B. Hardin, 34, was arrested today on charges of insurance fraud back in 2008. But it goes much further than that.

According to authorities, while living in South Carolina, Hardin and another person created a plan to take a small chain saw, attach it to a long pole and cut the third person's hand off.

The three participants then submitted insurance claims against the homeowner's insurance policy, three accidental death policies and dismemberment policies, receiving over $671,000.

The other two members of the plan have not been identified as of yet.

Hardin could receive  20 years imprisonment and $250,000 in fines for each of his six charges.

Ouch!
