Andre 3000: There are No Plans for New Outkast Album

News of Outkast reuniting for a new album surfaced in late 2011, but it seems that all that talk was just rumors. Andre 3000 recently sat down with GQ, where he dished on making music with Big Boi again, which didn't seem to be his main priority.

"There's been a lot of talk on the Internet about an Outkast album and I have to say that as of now, there are no plans for another Outkast album."

However, Andre said he was exited about putting out his solo album, which he hopes to release sometime in 2011.

"There's a lot of music on the horizon. I've been living off the excitement of new artists. I've been privileged to have these new artists kind of reach out and grab back and say, 'Hey, Andre, we want you on this song.' So I've been taking those calls and for the last two years, I've been doing collaborations. So these new artists have kind of been keeping me alive. I've just really been feeding off of that and this year I think I'm planning to do a solo project. I don't know when it will come out, but hopefully it'll come out this year. As far as Outkast, I really don't know if or when that will happen."

So, what can we expect from Andre's solo album? Well, he says he'll be taking fans back to early Outkast music and the lively energy from their beginnings.

"The only thing I can really say is I'm going to get back to having fun because that's what it was all about when I started this in high school—with Outkast—those were like high school dreams. I'm 36 now, so I have grown-man dreams. This album will just be me being myself as normal."

he is the best in the game still to me, no one wants to even rap b4 or after him, more/less like poetry, i think the prob is that andre matures so fast, and is so creative that its puts them too far apart for that old chemistry, on southerplayalistic, dre was more street, but began growing on atliens, which is tops 5 cd's rap ever to me, but dre is in his own lane, sir lucious sucked, love below was incredible, plus i think its the label situation, and the MAJOR fact that dre doent want to tour period, he is in dallas most of the time, and raps on selected tracks, and i mean over 40-50 million sold, grammys, features, movies, what more does one want, as a fan im like, DROP THE FREAKIN ALBUM, but the industry sucks and he knows due to the OVER promotion of bs music nowadays, Outkast wont get the exposure it deserves.

I believe that the Outkast we all grew up with is dead and we have to accept it when we get random songs like "The Art of Storytelling Pt.4" from them every so often. That's gonna be the closest they come to putting out the style of music they used to. However, I don't think Andre really wants to put in the time for another serious group album, which is sad. I don't want one of the last images I have for Outkast being Speakerboxx/The Love Below and that stupid soundtrack.
