Sadly, the talented Knicks rookie guard Iman Shumpert will have to sit out of this years Slam Dunk contest for the All-Star weekend.  Injuries have been an overshadowing problem for Shumpert, beginning with his very first game in the NBA.  His injuries have come back to haunt him for this years Slam Dunk contest as Shumpert will have to sit aside due to tendinitis in his knee.

Shumpert reported that had he been able to compete, he would have performed a rather "Linsane" trick.  He originally planned to bring out a couch in honor of his teammate Jeremy Lin, and sore over it and perform a crazy dunk.  Lin would probably have been on the court with him to lob the ball to Shumpert while he leaped over the couch to make the dunk even more "Linsane".  The couch, is symbolic of Lin's start with the Knicks as he spent many weeks sleeping on various couches, from his brother's to his teammate Landry Fields' couch, before settling down.

Shumpert spoke to The Post about his "could have been" incredible performance, and Jeremy Lin's contribution.

"He was going to help me out.  Once my knee was so sore, I started thinking about it: 'Am I going to be able to jump over the couch?' All kinds of things to think about.''

His absence will be replaced by Utah Jazz's, Jeremy Evans.

Hopefully Shumpert will be in good health next year so basketball fans could see his talents at the All-Star weekend.
