Ever since Ron Artest thanked his psychiatrist for helping him win the NBA Finals, we thought something was up. Not to say therapy is bad, it's just that remark on top of a fight in the stands, a suspension and a name change adds up to something less than appropriate.
The entire season has been tough for World Peace. And it may be his time to get out. According to FOXSportsWest.com, a certain Laker reported that World Peace was "walking around all crazy-like. We're just waiting for him to go off." This was just after a normal game and practice.
Yikes indeed. Another teammate said, "He's always talking about how he should be playing no matter how bad he's shooting, but he can't figure out that when he takes bad shots and misses eight in a row it puts us in a hole."
There are more than those two players concerned as well, "There are a lot of guys in here who'd just like to see him gone," a different player said. "I think we'd definitely be a better team if everyone didn't have to walk on eggshells when he's around."
And on Coach Brown, "I let him coach and I play," World Peace told the FOX website. "I'm just trying to win, and . . . coach is a stats guy. His background is video coordinator or whatever. So he's all stats. But Ron Artest is all feel."
The player formally known as Ron Artest is averaging just 22.4 minutes a game, with 4.7 points and a career-low 32.7% shooting.
It really might be time for him to go; we just don't want him goin' nuts.
