On occasion, even the ultra-strategic and most-informed can make mistakes. People are people, no matter where they work.
In this case, the FBI, planning on raiding a prolific drug dealer's home, chainsawed an apartment door and held the tenant on the floor at gunpoint, with her three-year old daughter crying in the adjacent room.
Judy Sanchez, of Fitchburg Massachussetts, awoke to heavy footsteps and a screaming chainsaw that night. "I took two steps, face the second door, and I heard the click of a gun, and saying, 'FBI, get down,' so I laid down on my living room floor," Sanchez said to WHDH.com. "I was screaming, 'You have the wrong apartment, you have the wrong apartment,' over fifty times. And then I seen the big blade coming down my door."
The agents were after the other tenant on her floor. Whoops.
The FBI apologized and is paying for the damages.
