One night before Celtics star Rajon Rondo was set to host in a charity basketball event at Harvard University he was nearly assaulted by a man outside of a club in Lowell.

Eric Valarezo, 31, of Haverhill was arrested for throwing a punch at Rondo outside of Brian's Ivy Hall, as he was exiting with his entourage — including Atlanta's Josh Smith, Memphis' Rudy Gay and former Celtics backup guard Nate Robinson.

Police and co-owner of the bar, Kevin Hayhurst, recounted that they saw a scuffle around Rondo's entourage and after the punch was thrown members of his entourage wrestled Valarezo to the ground.

Hayhurst added that Rondo was "unpersonable" and "disrespectful toward patrons," during the evening.
