A public viewing and private funeral service will take place for Heavy D. this week in his hometown of Mount Vernon, NY. The public viewing is scheduled from noon to 6PM on Thursday, November 17th. His private funeral service will take place the next day at a historically black church, Grace Baptist Church, in the northern part of the Mount Vernon suburbs. The church is said to be founded in 1888 by five African American women.

Heavy D died last Tuesday, November 8th, in Los Angeles at the tender age of 44. As a rapper he is most known for his hits with his group Heavy D & The Boyz from the late 80s and early 90s. Such hit songs included "Now That We Found Love", "Money Earnin' Mt. Vernon" and "Who's The Man."
