Update: Joe Frazier has died

Boxing legend 'Smokin' Joe Frazier, who went toe to toe with Muhammad Ali three times, is seriously ill with liver cancer. Frazier, 67, is currently in a Philadelphia hospice after being diagnosed with the disease several weeks ago.

Frazier was known for his devastating left hook, retiring with a 32-4-1 professional record. Smokin Joe went up against the greats during the golden days of boxing - Goerge Foreman, Oscar Bonavena, Joe Bugner and Jimmy Ellis to name a few.

His best known brawls were those against Muhammad Ali, including the legendary 1971 "Fight of the Century" at Madison Square Garden. In the 15th round, Frazier landed a left hook which dropped Ali for a four-count. Joe left the ring the undisputed champ.

Ali won a rematch in 1974, setting the stage for the "Thrilla in Manila" in the Philippines in 1975.
