The McRib has been featured in McDonald's franchises for many years. Its stint however is always in short intervals with the "For A Limited Time Only" slogan . That has not stopped the craze or hype surrounding what exactly the sandwich is made of. According to the website the McRib is composed of about 70 ingredients, 34 of which are solely located in the bun.

The ingredients include such things as azodicarbonamide, ammonium sulfate and polysorbate 80. Azodicarbonamide is found in the McRib bun and is also used in the process to make foam plastic; much like what gym mats are made of. The use of this component is banned in other countries outside of America because of a belief that exposure to the substance may cause asthma. The U.S. limits the amount of azodicarbonamide in flour products based on their findings in lab testings. That's only one of the 70 ingredients in the McRib, imagine the potential harm of the remainder. That could be explanation as to why the sandwich is not sold year round.

Not only does the McRib's recipe contain many items that some may view as harmful to consume, the basic nutrition facts are extremely unhealthy. It contains 10 grams of saturated fat and over half the daily intake recommended for sodium. That should be enough to have anyone second guessing if the elusiveness of the sandwich makes it worth eating.
