Australian Law Will Require Muslim Women to Lift Veils

New South Wales, Australia. The country's most populous state is proposing a new law that will require women to identify themselves to police if requested to do so. Failure to comply could result in up to 1 year in jail and a $5,900 fine.
Critics claim the bill is blatantly anti-Muslim. They point out that in a population of 23 million, only about 400,000 Australians are Muslim. Supporters of the bill say it's a matter of public security. France and Belgium have banned face-covering veils in public altogether.
It is a religious issue here," said Mouna Unnjinal, who has been driving in Sydney in a veil, called a niqab for 18 years and has never been cited for a traffic offense."We're going to feel very intimidated and our privacy is being invaded," she added.

Its funny how u guys wanna single out one religion. Muslim men aren't the only group of men who beat mistreat or even kill their wives. Ahh ppl just read ur Bibles or Quran. Muslim women aren't forced to dress that way its a choice just like its a choice if a chick wants to wear a tiny ass bikini. It has nothing to do with jealousy a woman is to cover herself woman been dressing like since b4 Jesus pbuh but as I said b4 y r u so concerned with what they wear?? A lot of Muslims want to contol there women. U think a Muslim woman wants to walk around in Australia r georgia covered up like that.... U r saying that because that is what u want to believe. So what if a man admires?? If she decides to where a tank top and shorts what will happen then???!?!!?

Ppl are ignorant. God said a woman should cover herself that her body is for her husband only. That y American girls constantly getting raped men are always cheating cuz these girls walk around half naked. Its degrading. If u have to show ur body to get a man then u don't want him. Do you really not see that it is a security risk to have people walking around with their faces covered? Do you not understand the reasons why YOU can't do that? Why should they get that special privilege? If my black ass was driving my car with a mask on I would get pulled over and have to identify myself. I couldn't keep the mask on and say "fuck you guys, this is my religion". Laws in secular countries do not have to cater to silly religious beliefs.

I can't say that I agree with you, I know that many conservative Islamic countries really mistreat their women, I mean look what happened to the prime minister of Pakistan, she was killed within few weeks of her coming back to Pakistan, but I think we all should have the right to choose what we wear and basically how we want to live our lives without judgement. Nobody is right or wrong when it comes to what a person wear, each society has its norms and traditions, but that's not to way one is more right then the other. It's not a women's fault she is raped due to how she is dressed, the men news to have self control and morals not to cross that line. It's not rocket science , but the vail is not gods orders, I see man's fingerprints all over that, jealously is a bitch and I can see how some men feel unconfurtable having their wives walk around In sexy clothing, but you have a choice , there are many conservative women that don't dress like that, so marry them...its very simple when u think about it

Muslim women cover their bodies so unwanted men wont lust over them. A woman's beauty is for her husband only. I don't understand an American girl can wear booty shorts showing all her body having every Guy lusting after her and that's cool but a Muslim woman who covers herself respectively gets a bad wrap LOL cmon

A lot of ignorance out here, in a country of 23 million, and only 400,000 Muslims, that's male and female, so let's say 200,000 are females, for a country to make laws that directly impact such a small percentage is a blatant act of prejudice . This world is becoming very anti Islamic, and always correlating Muslim with terrorism which is not right, if people look deep enough they will find the real truth, and how Muslims are being villinized in the media constantly
