Singer Fantasia is rumored to be the lead in an upcoming biopic of gospel singer Mahalia Jackson. An adaptation of the 1993 book Got to Tell It: Mahalia Jackson, Queen of Gospel, the movie will portray Jackson's life from poverty to famous gospel singer to activist.
This is not Fantasia's first acting gig. Fans will remember her 2006 role in the Lifetime movie, Life Is Not A Fair Tale, and her well-reviewed performiance as Celie in "The Color Purple" on Broadway.
