Kanye West can now add another prestigious title to his belt thanks to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The "Graduation" rapper received his honorary doctorate degree from the school today at their annual commencement, and regardless of the many who disagree that he should be given one, according to his longtime friend Don C and fans, it's happening.

Don "Don C" Crawley took to his Instagram a few moments ago to show off his reserved seat at the commencement, captioning it "Graduation Day," while fans of Dr. Kanye West have been posting photos of him in cap and gown. Dean of faculty Lisa Wainwright said "This man deserves an honorary doctorate from us! He should have gone here" after reading that West wished he had attended the school. "I read it and thought, 'Wow, this is a fantastic moment.' Here is this major figure in the cultural landscape promoting art school, this guy from Chicago saying art school is cool."

SAIC alum Corinna Kirsch, who is also the senior editor of the New York-based art magazine Art F City, disagrees with Wainwright and feels that honoring Kanye is just a gimmick. "As an alum of SAIC, I am offended that the school's exorbitant tuition and fees will help fund this nonsense," she wrote in Art F City's newsletter.

The "College Dropout" left school at the age of 20 and has sense made numerous strides in several avenues of entertainment. Do you think the honorary degree is well-deserved? Sound off below and check out photos from his commencement in the gallery.
