Twista has lent his life experiences in Chicago and more to a program dedicated to ending the city's troubling gun violence, Fox 32 has reported.
The rapper joins his manager Rawle Stewart, in his new program, "Voice of the Streetz." The movement hopes to bring attention to the city's most dangerous areas with seminars and more led by the city's popular artists like Twista, Stunt Taylor and dancer D-Low. Since losing multiple friends to the gun violence including Uchenna Agina - the manager of Lil Durk who was killed in March - Stewart wants everyone to see how music can bring people together for a good cause.
"Just this past year I've had three people that I've known, that's close to me, pass away due to violence," he said. "You know someone once told me music is God's way of talking to his people and I just think we need to figure a way to use the music and the people behind it to point us in the right direction."
Twista said Stewart's passion towards the project got him on board. He's also ready to listen to any suggestions residents have to help stop the violence.
"Anytime a person has a positive sparkle, a spark in his head to do something to stop something that's bad from happening, especially kids getting killed in the streets and people shooting and things like that, I mean, anything to stop something like that is a good time." he said.
The group started their tour around Chicago this week by talking to residents in the city's Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood. They hope to reach the South Shore neighborhood later this Spring.
