Spike Lee's new film "Chiraq" has caused a few problems with Chicago's political leaders.

According to the Huffington Post, many politicians and citizens of Englewood believe the use of the popular slang term will place a negative tone across town. The filmmaker's project will explore the city's troubling gun violence. With Chiraq comparing the city to the war zones in Iraq, Mayor Rahm Emanuel says he told Lee he wasn't thrilled about the title.

"We had an honest, frank conversation," he said. "He [Lee] said that while the movie is about the neighborhood of Englewood, I was clear that I was not happy about the title. I told him also that there are very good people that live in Englewood who are raising their family and there's a lot of positive things that are happening in Englewood mainly driven by the people that make up Englewood."

The city's alderman Williams Burns says the citizens deserve to critique the film's title and process due to Lee's $3 million film industry tax credit request. He also slammed Lee and media outlets for only narrowing in on the crimes of the city and not the progress the city has made over the years.

"There's a sense the media only comes to cover dead bodies and not the positive things that happen every day," he said. "And why is this guy from New York coming to do a movie about Chicago?"
