Meet Franklin Johnson. Johnson, 44, was the alleged "skinny" Rikers Island inmate (weighing 145 lbs.) who came to the rescue of a female corrections officer, who was about to be assaulted and raped by prisoner Raleek Young. Johnson granted NY Daily News an exclusive jailhouse interview, where he spoke on his swift decision to help out the female officer from this cruel act.

"I knew I had to help her. I was gonna get at him. I was gonna get at him no matter what. We don't violate women. That doesn't fly," Johnson said. Recalling the loud commotion outside the bubble-like watch post inside the Anna M. Kross Center last Saturday evening, Johnson claims that he walked over to the area and saw the assaulter, the 290-pound Young, pleasuring himself and pushing his way into the locked-down vestibule area. It was here that, Young, a 27-year-old convicted rapist, began groping and choking the female corrections officer - all the while blocking the gate switch - as reported in the criminal complaint.

Johnson, who is currently serving time for distribution of drugs, recalled several other inmates - whose aliases are Tate, Kels, Mr. O and Trinidad – all springing into action to overtake Young. The inmates were also joined by Correction Officers Pedro Santiago and Santiago Venegas, and collectively, the group frantically tore away a part of the Plexiglas of the bubble-like watch post.

After this, Johnson managed to slide himself inside, as the others kicked in and pried the top of the post open. Johnson went on to say, "It was small. I was getting in there, though. There wasn't a second to spare."

As previously reported, Young, who is serving a 5 to 10-year sentence for raping a 13-year-old girl in 2007, will now be facing brand new charges in connection to this attack, which includes attempted rape, sexual abuse, forcible touching, assault and harassment.
