Today (Feb. 27), XXL reveals Bun B's stance on higher education and Hip-Hop. For the past five years, Rice University has invited Bun B into the classroom where the "Draped Up" lyricist has been lecturing alongside Professor Anthony Pinn within the 'Hip-Hop And Religion' class. Due to increased demand, beginning in March, Professor Pinn and Bun B's class will available in online format.

This popular class resonates with millennials and old-heads alike. The Underground King believes, "I'm not saying we should use the lexicon of Hip-Hop culture for the education of the youth of America, but I think if we institute a conversation with them and communicate in different ways of what they're comfortable with in order to incorporate what they need to exist and to really perform in this world."

The "Hold You Down" MC states, "Then we have to start looking at a way to communicate with them where they appreciate and understand. I think that's where Hip-Hop comes in as that language." He acknowledges that Hip-Hop can be the bride to a universal language.

To better understand that language, a wide range of students study the course. The Trill OG confirms, "Just because we are a class that deals with Hip-Hop culture doesn't mean that everyone who takes this class comes from a Hip-Hop background. It's the opposite. The majority of the students that take this course are people that want to know more about hip-hop culture or are fascinated by it but don't have any point of reference."

Bun goes on to expound upon his initial insecurities he faced about teaching on the university level and the goals of the online course.

Does Hip-Hop have a place in the classroom?
