A former Home Depot employee and his supervisor were killed in an apparent murder-suicide at the Chelsea location in New York.

According to the New York Daily News, the shooting happened Sunday afternoon around 2:40 p.m. after the 31-year-old employee was fired. In an act of revenge, the man entered the store armed with a gun and shot his 38-year-old supervisor. A witness told reporters the shooting happened in the lighting section of the store. While some believed that the five shots that were fired were broken chandeliers, others described the noise as fireworks. A retired NYPD officer told reporters there was more chaos as people ran for their lives outside.

"Everyone was screaming," he said. "There were shots fired. A couple hundred people were running to 7th Ave."

The supervisor was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The former employee was found dead at the scene.
