Osiris Aristy, 17, was arrested for making emoji-filled threats to police on his Facebook page. A criminal complaint was filed against the Brooklyn teen, claiming that he posted a cop emoji with guns pointed at it with the caption, "N***a run up on me, he gunna get blown down."

Police arrested Aristy at his apartment, where they found a .38 Smith and Wesson, along with more than 25 grams of marijuana. His arrest proves that officers are taking social media posts seriously, and are keeping tabs on suspects pages.

"As a result of this conduct, the defendant has caused informant and other New York City police officers to fear for their safety, for public safety, and to suffer alarm and annoyance," read the criminal complaint against the teen.

Aristy's lawyer, Fred Pratt, claims that the teen didn't make specific threats against officers, and argues that many people use the cop and gun emojis without intending it to be a threat to officers.

"I understand that people found what he said distasteful and uncomfortable, but he never threatened to take action against police."

Aristy's bail has been set at $150,000, and he's due in court next Friday.
