Fans of Vybz Kartel can breathe easy now that officials have denied several murder plot rumors involving the reggae star.
According to the Jamaica Observer, rumors began to surface that the "Pon De Floor" artist was poisoned by a female who entered the Horizon correctional facility in Kingston earlier this week. Kartel is serving a life sentence for the murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams in Havendale in August 2011. Video evidence was brought upon the case showing Kartel and several men discussing their plans to harm Williams.
Senior Superintendent of Police Steve McGregor looked into the rumors and denied Kartel has been harmed in prison.
"We have heard the rumors that attempts were being made to harm the entertainer and we would have visited the area and spoken to officials there and found these rumors to be false," he said. "All of these allegations are false. The police have made checks and found rumors to be untrue."
Kartel has filed several appeals claiming he was treated unfairly throughout the case. The artist isn't eligible for parole until 2050.
