Birdman is more than certain his latest protege will become a household name like Nicki Minaj, Drake and Lil Wayne. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Birdman explains why the "Stoner" rapper is destined for greatness. Coming off a very successful year, Young Thug has had a Top 20 hit with "Lifestyle" and co-signs from hip-hop's biggest stars like Kanye West and T.I.

"Without a doubt, he's going to be a superstar. He's special," he said. "It's magic when you see him do what he does."

Thug also shared details from his past in the interview. One of 11 siblings, Thug says he wasn't the most well behaved student in class. After assaulting a teacher, Thug was sentenced to a juvenile-detention program for four years.

"I broke my teacher's arm," he said. "Took his ass out. P****-a** ni****.....Seven in the morning to six in the afternoon. No windows or nothing, like a real jail. Lot of punishment. I didn't do shit there but gamble, smoke and f****."

After deciding to take music seriously, Thug released his first mixtape in 2011 and later caught the eyes of Gucci Mane and Birdman. The rapper was signed to Gucci's 1017 Brick Squad label, but now has a home at Rich Gang. Thug says it feels good to be in the space he's in.

"I'm loving it," he said. "Who wouldn't want to be me right now?"
