A man in connection to the shooting of Beanie Sigel has been taken into questioning.

According to NBC Philadelphia, the rapper was shot Friday morning when a fight broke out in front of his home in Pleasantville, NJ. Sigel was returning home from taking his kids to school when he was shot. Police informed reporters the bullet struck the rapper in the abdomen.

Police also discovered two cars in connection to the shooting. One of them, a gray car which was filled with bullet holes. Two men fled from the grey vehicle as police arrived on the scene after the incident. The driver escaped, but the man in the passenger seat was taken into questioning. The other car, a Honda minivan was found empty Friday evening. Sigel's brother-in-law, Umar Salahuddin was also injured but not shot. He was also taken into questioning, but hasn't cooperated with investigators.

Fortunato Perri, Jr., the rapper's lawyer confirmed Sigel went through surgery and is currently in serious condition. A cousin of the rapper's wife spoke to reporters about the shooting.

"The whole thing is a tragedy," she said. "It's just very sad and I just ask that everybody keep our family in prayer and that he pulls through."
