The drama in Ferguson and other social injustices before it which have all involved various forms of police brutality have in many ways sparked a new era of the Civil Rights Movement.  The grand jury's decision not to indict Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson for killing 18-year-old Michael Brown has sent a shockwave through our nation and encouraged thousands, if not millions of people to revolt against the continuous mistreatment of Black Americans.

The death of Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, and many others, has caused people to take to the streets and march, and in some cases riot, in order to affect change.  Just yesterday, protesters used Twitter to recruit people to #StopTheParade, as many gathered in the streets of NYC with the intention to disrupt the commercial bliss surrounding the Thanksgiving Day Parade, and raise awareness to the issues at hand.  Today, on Black Friday, that protest has continued once again.

Instead of take to the streets, protesters have rallied online to prevent people from spending money on Black Friday.  The hashtag #NotOneDime quickly rose to become one of the Top 10 trending topics in the United States.  Many people spread the word to every user, not to spend money on this day because it will only support a nation that accepts these reoccurring social injustices as a normal part of American society.

While many people were receptive of the trend, there were of course others who were against it.  Check out the reactions to the online rally for #NotOneDime above.
