Seeing Kanye West walk through the front door at a local open mic show isn't something that many people would imagine happening these days ever since he officially evolved into the superstar that is Yeezus; however, he recently proved that he is still much more grounded than people may think.

Mr. West made a brief appearance at the popular local Mexican restaurant The Dopeness in Jersey City on Wednesday, October 29th, to see the daughter of his close family friends perform.  Jahmila Sandifer, a.k.a. Jay Hype, performed as a part of The Dopeness' "Wolf Juice" set, which is a monthly event where they allow aspiring artists to showcase their skills in front of a live audience.

Kanye didn't remain in the venue for long after Jay Hype performed her Kanye West inspired song, "K.O.W.," which stands for Ye's birth name, Kanye Omari West.  After she finished her performance, she and Kanye hung out together briefly and snapped a few pictures together before he made his departure.  Jay Hype commented on Kanye's influence on her music to NJ.com when she stated, "Kanye is a very, very big idol in my life and I try to incorporate the stuff he does into my work.  He gives me pointers and I take it very seriously...his opinion is always in the back of my mind."
