Two students from Senegal were the target of severe bullying after they were beaten by their classmates in New York last week.

According to the Huffington Post, the students who were in the sixth and eighth grade were hospitalized after students called them "ebola" at I.S. 318 in the Bronx. The boys who were raised in Senegal have been in the U.S for over a month when officials claim students called them "Ebola" and accused them of having the deadly disease.

The Ebola virus has targeted West African countries including Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia. It was reported that Nigeria and Senegal were free of the virus. The father of both children, Ousmane Drame said he was surprised by the incident.

"They call me from the school tell me come, they're beating your children," he said. "He was crying, laying on the floor, more than 10 children on top of him, beating him."

An investigation has been launched while the boys remain in the hospital.

"If they go to the gym they don't want them touching the ball - 'Oh, you have Ebola, don't play with us,' Drame said. "They don't know nothing. They're babies."
