A con man from South Wales stole from his neighbors, tricked the justice system and ran several scams for more than two years authorities say.

Con man Alan Knight tricked his neighbors out of around $41,000, using the funds to buy Christmas gifts and even a new van, but when his neighbors discovered his treachery and filed suit, the real scam began.

Knight allegedly had his wife Helen, tell the judge presiding over his case that he was a quadriplegic due to an accident. She would even push him in a wheelchair to court appearances and drive the act home.

Knight, however, would be discovered by doctors and medical staff who noticed he had no trouble eating, wiping his face, or writing. Surveillance cameras of a local grocery store even caught Knight shopping and walking without difficulty.

Knight has been arrested and charged with more than a dozen counts of fraud and will be sentenced at the end of next month.
