Stephen A. Smith has responded to Floyd Mayweather's harsh comments after the critic accused him of avoiding a fight with Manny Pacquiao.

According to Complex, Stephen A. Smith addressed Mayweather's comments on Twitter and on First Take Monday morning. Smith says he was taken back by Mayweather's response to his claim since he's praised the fighter in the past. He also says he refuses to steer away from his comments.

"If @FloydMayweather wants to go on Twitter or anywhere else cussing me out, feel free," he tweeted. "It's not going to change my respect for his greatness as a boxer. I said what I said and I mean what I mean: WE WANT Pacman! That is the fight we all care about....not Amir Khan. If that's gonna get me cussed out, I'll be getting cussed out for years b/c I'm going to keep saying it. Since I'm just a critic, @FloydMayweather shouldn't give a damn. He's still the best. I wish him well."

His comments on First Take mirrored his tweets as he continued to defend his beliefs, but also wished the best for Mayweather. He also says his comments were uncalled for since they have each other's phone numbers.
