Singer and songwriter Tank tried to have an open conversation about African American women but his words set off major backlash on Twitter Thursday evening.

The TGT member who happens to be in a relationship with a woman with a lighter complexion than him took to Twitter to ask why women with darker complexions dislike women of a lighter tone.

"I have an honest question. What do dark skinned women have against light skinned women?.. Aren't we all black at the end of the day??" he tweeted.

The singer provided his version of facts by mentioning how his longtime girlfriend has been the victim of online bullying from women who believe she isn't a good fit for him because of her complexion.

"You should check the comments on my page when I post my light skinned girlfriend and maybe you'll understand the frustration!" he tweeted.

Unfortunately for the Grammy-nominated singer, his fans weren't behind him and slammed him for his views on the relationship between lighter and darker-skinned women.

Do you think the singer has a point?
