Akon has come under fire recently after photos hit the Internet showing the singer crowd surfing while encapsulated in a large plastic ball during his concert in Goma, D.R. of Congo, on Sunday, October 5th.  Twitter users and media alike began accusing Akon of utilizing the plastic bubble in order to distance himself from the possibility of contracting the deadly Ebola virus, which has killed over 3,000 people.  Given the severity of the disease, it is understandable how people would come to that conclusion; however, there is absolutely no truth to it.

Akon took to both Twitter and Instagram and clarified that he's actually been using this plastic ball crowd surfing tactic for years, but people are only making a big deal out of it now because of the Ebola outbreak.  He was offended that people would really accuse him of something like this, and assured them that he would never isolate himself from his African fans.

Check out what Akon had to say about the subject above.
