Sometimes it's best not to get to close to the streets -- especially if it's not your natural habitat.

CBS Chicago reports that 17-year-old Maxwell Gadau, a suburban Chicago teen and fan of Windy City emcee Lil Durk, may have been killed during the weekend due to alleged ties to notorious Chicago street gang the Gangsta Disciples.

Durk expressed his condolences over the loss of Gadau by tweeting, ""Rest in peace to one of my fans that just got killed my condolence goes out to his family."

Chicago Police say that the 17-year-old was shot in the back while he stood next to car of a female companion outside of a party. He was pronounced dead at the hospital while the unknown female is listed in critical condition.

With Chicago's infamous gang related crime rate, some have suggested that Gadau's false claims of membership in the  GDK, or Gangster Disciples Killers, may have led to his demise.

GDK is a gang that Durk has purportedly had ties to in the past.
