With fans and family members of the late Aaliyah disowning the Lifetime movie based on the singer's life, the network has announced the film will be released in November.

According to XXL, the network tweeted a photo of Alexandra Shipp in Aaliyah's signature tomboy look.

"She was the princess of R&B and now her story is being told. #AaliyahMovie premieres Saturday, November 15."

The film has gone through many switches in casting and production. Disney star Zendaya opted out of the film after backlash from fans. Wendy Williams was later brought on as an executive producer for the film.

Williams promises that the film will tell the singer's story correctly.

"You can count on us to get this movie right," said Williams. "I want to know the things you wanna know. What happened with R. Kelly, what was going on with Dame Dash, what was Aaliyah's personal life really like."
