After it was announced that Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson had clearance to play this weekend against the New Orleans Saints, new allegations of the player striking his other young son have come to light.

According to the New York Post, Peterson, who fathered a second 4-year-old with another woman has been accused of acting out his punishments on the boy, leaving him with bandages on his head.

The incident allegedly happened last June. When the mother contacted Peterson over the wounds on the child's head, the player texted the mother the following message:

Mother: "What happened to his head?"
Peterson: "Hit his head on the Carseat."
Mother: "How does that happen, he got a whoopin in the car."
Peterson: "Yep."
Mother: "Why?"
Peterson: "I felt so bad. But he did it his self."
Mother: "What did you hit him with?"
Peterson never told the mother what he used but later said, "Be still n take ya whooping he would have saved the [scar.] He aight."

The running back was indicted last week for hitting his other 4-year-old son with a switch. The player released a statement, maintaining his innocence in the case.

"I am not a perfect parent, but I am, without a doubt, not a child abuser," Peterson said. "I am someone that disciplined his child and did not intend to cause him any injury. No one can understand the hurt that I feel for my son and for the harm I caused him. My goal is always to teach my son right from wrong and that's what I tried to do that day."

He has yet to comment on the recent allegations.
