Greg Hardy's domestic violence case from earlier this year have caused the Carolina Panthers to pull him out of today's game against the Detroit Lions.

According to ESPN, the decision was made Saturday night and announced Sunday morning. Hardy was arrested for allegedly beating up his girlfriend in May. The woman claims that she was pulled by hair, punched and choked by Hardy, over his jealousy towards her previous relationship.

While Hardy plans to appeal the case in November, his team deactivated him from playing in today's game.

Earlier this week, Panthers coach Ron Rivera said he had plans to start Hardy against the Detroit Lions.

The announcement comes days after the NFL's latest cases of abuse with Adrian Peterson and Ray Rice. Critics have also slammed the NFL for allegedly hiding information to help support their players.
