Rappers have taken part in spreading social issues through their music, and fellow musician and owner of the New York Knicks Jim Dolan wants to do the same.

In an interview with the New York Times, Dolan's band, JD & the Straight Shot, premiered their song, "Under The Hood" about Trayvon Martin and the moments that led up to his untimely death.

"There's literally nowhere I won't go," said Dolan about what he called an American tragedy.

In the song, Dolan paints a picture of the night of the 16-year-old's death.

As he prepares to release his new project with his band, Dolan says he doesn't focus on the Knicks too much since Phil Jackson came into the picture earlier this year.

"I am definitely spending less time with the Knicks," he said. "I simply said, 'If you need me, call me,'" Dolan recalled, pausing for half a beat. "He did not call me."
