Kendrick Lamar's instant classic "good kid, m.A.A.d city" is widely regarded as one of the best Hip-Hop albums of the last 5 years, and while Lamar is busy crafting his follow-up, he's also preparing to release his short film based on GKMC to the masses.

His short film, "m.A.A.d" is set to serve as a bridge between the 1st and second albums, and the 14-minute long clip is set to debut Saturday, August 9 at the inaugural Sundance NEXT fest.

Director Kahlil Joseph (a previous Sundance award winner) compiled footage of K. Dot's run on the Yeezus tour with splices of the Kendrick-described environment of Compton.

According to Fader, the film is being billed as "a kaleidoscope of storylines and ideas that defy typical categorization to explore new languages and new forms."
