ESPN has suspended Stephen A. Smith for his comments on domestic violence.

According to the Washington Post, the commentator was issued a week-long suspension after he expressed that women should be mindful not to trigger or "provoke" a man into putting their hands on them. After he received major backlash from his audience, Smith issued an apology and claimed that his use of the word "provoke" was unacceptable.

ESPN says that Smith will return to work next Wednesday, August 6.
