Chicago teenager Keven Stonewall is ready to put an end to colon cancer.

According to DNAChicago, the Ashburn native says he's always had a love for science, and decided to focus on cancer after his friend's uncle passed away from the disease.

"I saw the impact on him and how it impacted his life," Stonewall said. "Cancer has taken over a whole bunch of lives, and I felt like I needed to step up and do something about it."

The teen began his work in high school and was a part of the 2013 Intel ISEF Awards, the biggest science competition in the country. From there, he's continued to perfect his vaccine on colon cancer, which proved to be effective on mice.
