Former Colts coach Tony Dungy spoke out against Michael Sam getting drafted into the NFL, telling the Tampa Bay Tribune that he wouldn't have chosen the former Missouri linebacker. He explained that he "wouldn't have taken" Sam, because "things will happen."

"I wouldn't have taken him. Not because I don't believe Michael Sam should have a chance to play, but I wouldn't want to deal with all of it. It's not going to be totally smooth ... things will happen."

Some fans were a little shocked to hear Dungy's point of view, considering he faced so much adversity as the first African-American coach to win a Super Bowl. He also wrote the forward for N. Jeremi Duru's "Advancing the Ball," a book advocating equal opportunity in the NFL.
