32-year-old high school teacher Danielle Watkins from Stamford, CT was arrested Thursday for having sex with her 18-year-old student. The two had been intimate over the course of a year.
Watkins and the student would often have sex in her car off-campus, and she regularly sent the student nude photos of herself. She also provided him and his 15-year-old friend with marijuana, which the three of them would smoke together off school property.
When the student attempted to stop the relationship, Watkins accused him of seeing someone else, threatened to fail him, and then attacked him. He then chose to wait until the end of the school year to report her to his counselor who called the Connecticut Department of Children and Families and also the Board of Education.
Police pulled Watkis over on June 27th and found weed in her car and a cell phone full of evidence, including 200-300 calls and 2,000 texts exchanged between the two.
Her charges include sexual assault and the sale of marijuana, with bond set at $75,000 for the 18-year-old, and the sale of marijuana and risk of injury to a minor with bond set at $25,000 for his 15-year-old friend.
