Pitbull was recently awarded an honorary degree from Doral College in Miami, and sported a huge smile in a photo of him holding his award and flipping the middle finger. While the "I Know You Want Me" rapper appeared happy as ever, Gawker journalist Jordan Sargent pointed out that the college is non-accredited, thus greatly lowering the prestige of the honorary degree.

In the article, Sargent points out that "Doral College operates in a grey area of legality," and references an article from the Miami Herald that highlights local lawmakers' opinion on the school.

"Miami-Dade public schools officials, who have watched the charter industry claim a growing chunk of taxpayer dollars, are less than enthusiastic. They have refused to authorize dual enrollment courses and have criticized both the value of a Doral College degree and the institution's heavy reliance on public dollars intended for grade schools."

All of the students attending Doral are high schoolers, 22 of which received a concurrent associate degree this year. Anitere Flores, state senator and president of Doral College, said that the school is currently focused on high schoolers while they are trying to gain accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, which could take several years.
