Shaquille O'Neal upset fans after posting a photo of him mocking Jahmel Binion, a 23-year-old who suffers from a rare condition called ectodermal dysplasias. The condition causes Jahmel to have reduced ability to sweat, missing teeth, and fine, sparse hair.

Binion has been the victim of mean-spirited jokes since he was young, but Shaq took it to another level when he posted a side-by-side photo of himself and Jahmel with the caption, "SMILE TODAY." When reporters asked Jahmel what he thought of Shaq's photo, he said,"I was kinda hurt cause I look up to him. I watched Shaq play basketball the whole season and so I'm like why he making fun of me when he supposed to be this role model?"

Although the photo was later taken down, fans called out the former basketball star for his insensitivity with the hashtag #ShameonShaq on Twitter. One user wrote, "So glad that #ShaquilleOneal has nothing better or more positive to do than mocking someone who is disabled. #whatatool #shameonyouShaq."

The famed baller apologized to Binion on Twitter, writing, "Made a new friend today when I called and apologized to Jahmel Binion. Great dude. #alwayslearning #MYBADCUZ."
