With Howard University's graduation ceremony just a month away, students are conflicted about this year's commencement speaker.

According to WJLA News, Sean Combs, who has reverted back to Puffy, was named this year's commencement speaker and will receive an honorary Doctorate Degree from the prestigious university. Students are conflicted about the choice because the mogul dropped out during his time at the college.

"What we've been told is he didn't graduate from Howard University," said senior Shay Bell. "I'm not necessarily sure that I'm too thrilled about him being our commencement speaker, because I'm not sure what he's going to tell me."

After dropping out, Combs interned for Uptown Records with Andre Harrell where he worked with Mary J. Blige, Soul For Real, Guy and Heavy D. He later created Bad Boy records and launched the careers of Biggie Smalls, Faith Evans, and many more.

While some students are outraged that the entrepreneur will speak, other students are thrilled about the speech and what he will share with the students.

"Though he may not have gotten his degree from this university, he still worked hard to become a very successful person, and i feel he upholds our principles," said senior Jasmine Dailey.

Howard University released a statement following the backlash.

"In selecting the individuals who will be awarded honorary degrees, Howard University continues the tradition of identifying leaders whose work has clearly contributed to the advancement of their fields and the world. We are honored to have Mr. Combs serve as our speaker. He sat in classrooms where our students sit, walked 'The Yard,' and like many students, his entrepreneurial spirit was sparked at Howard. We know he will inspire our class to work hard and to always strive for excellence."

Combs will speak at the University in May.
